How does the BusinessEnergy.ai estimator work?
The BusinessEnergy.ai estimator turns energy-use details into an indicative cost using rates loaded interactively, daily standing charges and VAT assumptions. It is an estimate, not a live tariff or supplier quote.
How to provide usage
Direct electricity or gas kWh entered by you is used as the consumption input. If you do not know your usage, the selected business profile supplies a fallback usage assumption. If you have only a bill amount, the estimator can back-calculate indicative usage from that bill; this is less precise because it depends on the rate settings available when you use it.
Optional AI usage extraction
When the AI feature is enabled and you choose to use it, your description is processed to extract energy-use information into structured JSON for the estimate. It is usage extraction only, not an energy recommendation. AI is optional.
Rates, standing charges and VAT
The estimator loads current rate settings interactively and combines them with applicable standing-charge and VAT assumptions to estimate a cost. Rate settings may be updated over time; the same inputs and rate settings produce the same estimate.
